Rotary Club of Monkseaton Centenary

Hello Everyone! This is a picture (and the first Rotary picture taken in England) of me on the night of my first Rotary presentation with President Celia Leach, of the Rotary Club of Monkseaton Centenary, Phil Hopps, who is the District 1030 Rotary Foundation Committee Ambassadorial Scholar Co-ordinator. It was a wonderful night and my presentation went on without a hitch! Everyone in the club is extremely friendly and we have decided to make an "American style Thanksgiving" on Friday November 24th for everyone and their families...and my school mates are invited to attend as well. President Celia is hosting the party at her house....and I will be cooking!!!! Wish me luck as I have only helped in the kitchen for Thanksgiving. I have never been solely in charge! At the meeting I was also presented with a dictionary of the North East Dialect. I can't wait to share it with you upon my return! I hope you are all well!

Newcastle University

This is a picture of King's Hall located on the University's campus. It is one of the most beautiful buildings! So far I just love the campus. Everything is convenient and within walking distance. My classes begin on Tuesday and all week we have been attending induction ceremonies for my MA course in Cross Cultural Communications and Media Studies. It will be a very exciting week!!

Hello from Newcastle

Hello from Newcastle!!!

I arrived safely and although I was the last person on the plane to receive my luggage, I was met with the smiling face of Albert, my host Rotarian. We took a drive, of course me sitting on the left side of the car was a bit to get used to, and arrived safely at my door...I think the right hand turns are the most confusing for me because it looks like a one way road!~ My dorm is lovely and everyone is very friendly. I attended my first Rotary meeting hours after my arrival and everyone is so kind. You would all get along marvelously! I have made friends with some gentlemen from Iran, Mexico, Taiwan, and a bunch of girls from China, Japan, Thailand, Switzerland and Barbados. Everything is very exciting! I will be in touch soon and post pictures...today it was raining so I didn't get the chance. But soon you will have something to look at!
Take care everyone and I am thinking about you all!!!

Dear Rotarians

Dear Rotarians,

I created this site specifically for you so you can stay up to date on what I am up to! You can also make comments and write back to me on this site too! I hope to do a lot and make you all very proud! I leave in just a few days and I am very excited. I thank you with my whole heart for this opportunity. I will not let you down. Hopefully I will be able to add some photos to this site so you can see what Newcastle upon Tyne is like.
